If you’re ready to love fishing in Morehead City, look no further than Captain Joe’s Charter. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Doc can tell you all about the local fishery.
Depending on conditions, you might hook into Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Snowy Grouper, Atlantic Mackerel, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish, Gray Triggerfish, Blackfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and who knows what else! On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using heavy tackle. Any fish you catch are yours to take with you, provided they’re legal to keep.
Capt. Doc runs a 65’ Offshore sport fishing with room for 8 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Doc
will supply rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask the captain whether you’ll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate, who’s there to help you fish and keep everyone safe on board. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 15%–20% gratuity is customary and much appreciated.
There’s no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Have in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain. Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise, you should bring your own. Also, remember to bring snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly! It’s recommended to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask.
Give yourself something to look forward to and book a trip with Captain Joe’s Charter!
