Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the right New Bern vacation home:
- Start by having your group select dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. 1br Deluxe Condo Outdoor Gold & River Fun! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
