Strategies to get the best New Bern vacation rental experience:

When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Choosing and booking a perfect New Bern vacation home:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 2 Bed, 2 Bath Condo at Island Beach & Racquet Club has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
