Tricks and tips to get the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:

When to reserve a New Bern rental & When to go:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. To find the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the best rental home in the New Bern area:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 3RD FLOOR WITH GREAT OCEAN VIEWS. OCEANFRONT COMPLEX WITH FAMILY AMENITIES has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
