Finding the best vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your New Bern vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the best New Bern rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Oceanside Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC-Anchors Away Unit 1 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
