New Bern rental home tips:
How to get the best value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanside Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC-Anchors Away Unit 1 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
