New Bern vacation rental home tips:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Indian Beach. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in Indian Beach:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Beach Thyme, Oceanfront House in Indian Beach, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
