Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your New Bern rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautiful Bogue Shores 1st Floor Studio with Beach & Sound Access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
