Tricks and tips to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to book:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try shifting your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking the perfectvacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Beautiful, Comfortable Condo With Dock Space ... quick access to Bogue Sound has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
