Booking the best vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautiful Corner Oceanfront 3 Bedroom 2 Bath Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
