How to find the best New Bern vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the best rental home:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Boho Bungalow has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is best for your family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
