Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanside beach home, 2 minute walk to beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
