Finding the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Summer is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Top Floor Ocean side unit with an ocean view! Enjoy our Crystal Coast! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
