Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your group commit to trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Ocean Front Condo Just Steps to the Beach -Maximum 6 night stay only. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
