Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Pine Knoll Shores. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Renovated home with pool & easy beach access - dog-friendly has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
