Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sound Escape, Sound Side Studio Condo in Emerald Isle has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
