Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Spacious, Two Bedroom Condo at the Center of the Crystal Coast has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
