Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Reserve your New Bern rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Why Knot Getaway. Emerald Isle Oasis has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
