Rental booking tips:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your New Bern rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right New Bern rental home:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Why Knot Getaway. Emerald Isle Oasis has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
