Spend the day with Southern Voyage Fishing Charters and let them show you what makes the fishing in Morehead City so memorable! With Captain John at the helm, you’ll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.
Around here the fishing is popular for Spanish Mackerel, Gag Grouper, Amberjack, Gray Triggerfish, Wahoo, Sailfish, Black Seabass, Mahi Mahi, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Blackfin Tuna, and more, depending on when you go. On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. For the more adventurous among you, there’s spearfishing.
If you’re traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Don’t forget to bring snacks!
Capt. John runs a 27’ Onslow Bay center console with room for 4 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, and all the essentials. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for some fishing! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain.
A few items to bring include sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Go ahead and treat yourself to a day on the water with Southern Voyage Fishing Charters.
