How to get the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 1 Fish, 2 Fish, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
