Booking the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose and book the right New Bern vacation home:

  • First, have your family choose date ranges and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Cross Pointe, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a particular New Bern attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
