How to find the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your New Bern vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 3BR Duplex - Dogs OK! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
