Tips for getting the perfect Emerald Isle rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Just a Fluke - Ocean cottage 2nd row has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
