Booking the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing and booking the rightvacation home:

  • Start by having your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 2BR oceanside duplex, steps from beach, dog friendly at no add't fee has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
