The clean whites and grays of the condo interior mimic the colors of a sea gull. The furnishings is comfortable and the kitchen is well appointed for both the foodie who loves to prepare and the guest who is heating up leftovers from one of the many local eateries, most of which are within 1/2 of a mile. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and a couch bed in the living room, so the unit can sleep 6. There is a full bathroom with a shower in the primary bedroom, and the full bath off of the living room has a tub/shower enclosure.
The beach is literally just steps away. Step out on the balcony, walk down the stairs, go to the end of Money Island Drive (150ft), turn west (right) go another 50' on Glenn Street, and the state beach access is right there. The beach is wide and inviting, with white sand and teal water that evokes scenes from the Caribbean.
Units A and B (upstairs and downstairs respectively) share a ground floor charcoal grille and an open outdoor shower for rinsing off sand.

Strategies to get the best New Bern vacation home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Booking in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. A Walk on the Beach B gets your feet in the sand within 250 ft. Pet friendly has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
