Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your New Bern rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect rental home:

  • First, have your group select the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 2nd-Floor Oceanfront Condo w\/Shared Pool, Ocean Views + Free WiFi & Wet Bar has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
