- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
