Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation home:

  • First, have your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Sea Therapy, Almost Oceanfront Home in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, call the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a certain New Bern beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
