Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Get the most from your budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Start by having your group select trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Sea Therapy, Almost Oceanfront Home in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
