Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a rental home:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- To find the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book yourvacation home:
- First, have your group choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Barbara's Dream has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
