Tips and Tricks to get the best Indian Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental:
- First, have your group agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Beach Front Condo With Wonderful Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
