Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect rental:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Beachwalk 205: After Dune Delight has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
