Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your New Bern rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Peaceful 3BR\/2.5BA home, easy walk\/bike to beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
