How to book the best New Bern vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book yourvacation home:
- Start by having your group choose date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful beach views with top floor living area has 1 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
