New Bern rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental home in the New Bern area:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautiful cottage w\/ocean views - steps away from the beach! Dog Friendly! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
