Strategies to get the very best New Bern rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 203 C-Sea Lookout: 4 BR, 3 BA Condominium in Atlantic Beach, Sleeps 10 has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
