Vacation rental booking tips:

When to visit & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by having your group select date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Charming, warm & tranquil historic downtown New Bern home has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's an individual New Bern beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
