Tips and Tricks to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best vacation home:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Custom Beachfront Home, Oceanfront Oasis to relax and recharge. has 2 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
