How to get the best New Bern vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer time is high season in Beaufort. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. East Lodge - Group Friendly!! Free Wifi and Cable TV included has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
