New Bern vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to select the best rental:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. East Lodge - Group Friendly!! Free Wifi and Cable TV included has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
