New Bern rental property booking tips:

Sticking to a budget:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

How to pick the best rental home in the New Bern area:

  • To start, have your family select vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sound & Seadogs Great Stay Middle Row! EI Bungalow 1 Min. Walk to Beach & Sound! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More considerations:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
