Tricks and tips to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your family select the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 3 blocks from Taylors Creek, 1 mile from Beaufort waterfront and boat ramp has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
