Booking the best New Bern rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer months are high season in Beaufort. To book the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking yourvacation home:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3 blocks from Taylors Creek, 1 mile from Beaufort waterfront and boat ramp has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
