How to get the best vacation home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefect New Bern vacation home:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Home with golf cart, community pool, easy access,Spinnakers Reach community has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
