Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental in the New Bern area:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 2 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If not, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
