Strategies to get the best New Bern vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Luxury Condo On North Carolina's Crystal Coast has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
