Tips to get the best New Bern rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your New Bern vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking your prefect New Bern rental home:
- To start, have your group select the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Moonlight Suite 198* has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you crave, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback.
