Tricks and tips for getting the best rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose the rightrental home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. First Floor Coastal Comfort in Oceanfront Complex with 3 pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
