How to get the best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:
- Start by having your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. First Floor Coastal Comfort in Oceanfront Complex with 3 pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
