Strategies to get the best New Bern vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking the best New Bern rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Tropical inspired 2 bed 2 bath, in an OCEANFRONT complex with 3 pools has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Advice for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
