New Bern rental booking tips:
Find your perfect rental:
- To get the best value, try shifting your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Finding the best rental home:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Tropical inspired 2 bed 2 bath, in an OCEANFRONT complex with 3 pools has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you are enamored with, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
