Our top Rental home booking tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. OCEAN FRONT UNIT WITH GREAT OCEAN VIEW! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you crave, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. message the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
