Booking the best New Bern vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.

Choosing and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Newly renovated beach home with decks, ocean views, and outdoor shower has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual New Bern destination you crave, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
