Strategies for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing a perfectrental home:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. OCEANFRONT 4 BR\/2 BA 1\/2 duplex with stunning views! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
