Rental home booking tips:

When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Choosing the best vacation rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Fantastic Oceanfront 4bd\/2ba. 3 night min Spring\/Fall & 15% off Mar\/April nights has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. text the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
