Tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront, private pool, beach boardwalk, views galore!Located in Spinnakers Reach has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If not, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
